Pic-052 Huka Falls on the Waikato River, which drains from Lake Taupo on the North Island. The River is 100m wide just upstream of the falls, but is then forced into a 15m wide canyon. The River as a whole supplies about 15% of the country's electricity.
Pic-053 The Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park is home to a number of strage landscapes. Minerals rising from the volcanoes below cause the water and the rocks to take on a number of colours. Steam rises from vents scattered around the Park.

Pic-060 This is the Champagne Pool, so called because of the tiny bubbles which fill the hot water. The weather on the day we visited meant that there was lots of steam obscuring the colours.
Pic-061 Just down the road from Wai-O-Tapu is this pool of boiling mud.

Pic-063 Te Puia is an institute for Maori culture, outside Rotorua. They host cultural evenings which start wioth a challenge from a warrior.
Pic-064 The guy in the yellow waterproof was elected as our chief for the evening. Here, he has just picked up a peace offering from the warrior.
Pic-065 We were welcomed by a speech from the chief, which other members of the group joined in with.
